WHAT IS A RACING CLUB?

A Racing Club is an affordable option to get into horse racing. As a Racing Club member you will not own any legal or equitable rights to the racehorse, ownership remains with the racing club or a third party. You are likely to pay an all-inclusive membership fee which entitles you to similar benefits to that of a syndicate and can include; owners’ badges, stable visits and social events. (RSA)

WHY CHOOSE THE CRAIG LIDSTER RACING CLUB?

Craig Lidster Racing is a family run racing business based at the Eboracum Racing Stables, situated 10 miles north of York.

ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN CHARGES?

No. The price listed per membership is a one-off cost for the agreed membership period. There is no further commitment.

As a racing club we are committed to getting as many Owners Badges for our members as we can. We will endeavour to get these for free but on some occasions we may choose to receive discounted badges to get more members to the races and members may incur a small additional charge for one of the discounted badges.

However, if you wish to watch your horse run in person, and you are not fortunate enough to be allocated an owner’s badge in the ballot, you can choose to go racing under your own steam and will have to purchase admission to the course.

ARE THERE ANY MONTHLY FEES?

No. All the costs (including registration fees, training fees, entry fees, gallop fees, transport, jockey, veterinary, farrier, dental and physio fees, mortality insurance etc.) are all covered by the one-off fee.

DO I GET A WELCOME PACK WHEN I JOIN?

Yes. We ship these out to your home address within one month of your membership starting.

CAN I BUY A MEMBERSHIP AS A GIFT?

Yes. Please speak to the Racing Club Manager to organise a gift membership – Club@craiglidsterracing.co.uk

HOW OFTEN WILL I RECEIVE AN UPDATE ABOUT THE CLUB HORSES?

We pride ourselves on our communication and we aim to provide all members with regular updates from Craig, plus photos and videos of your horses. You will receive details of upcoming entries and declarations as well as receiving race previews and reports, plus much more. All this information about your club horses will be in your members private WhatsApp area.

WHEN WILL MY HORSE RUN?

Craig Lidster is responsible for deciding when and where the club horses will run.

HOW MUCH NOTICE DO I RECEIVE WHEN MY HORSE IS GOING TO RUN?

We will inform members as soon as we receive an entry or declaration update, they will be updated in your private members WhatsApp area. Entries are usually due six days before race day and declarations two days before race day. However, for some of the biggest races of the year, often they close a while before the race is due to be run.

WILL I BE ABLE TO VISIT THE HORSES AT THE STABLES?

Yes. We plan to have two stable visits per calendar year. As part of the stable visits, you will be able to meet the Craig Lidster Racing Club team, stable staff and view the facilities at the Eboracum Racing Stables. You will also be able to spend time with your club horses and meet other yard stars. You will also have access to the owner’s lounge and balcony (with great scenic views over the gallops)

HOW ARE OWNER'S BADGES ALLOCATED?

The club managers will request the maximum number of owners badges available every time a club horse runs. The number of available owners badges will vary from racecourse to racecourse and meeting to meeting. An owner’s badge does not always include a free meal. Indeed the option for free complimentary meals may be forfeited by the club managers in order to allow more syndicate members to attend the meeting.

When demand exceeds the number of badges available a random draw will occur.

DO YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR AN OWNER'S BADGE?

As a racing club we are fully committed to getting as many Owner's Badges for our members as we can. We will endeavor to get these for free but on some occasions we may choose to receive discounted badges to get more members to the races. In this case, members may incur a small additional charge for one of these badges.

IF THEY ARE BOTH MEMBERS, CAN  FAMILY MEMBERS/PARTNERS APPLY FOR TWO OWNERS BADGES?

Yes, If two members from the same family/household apply for badges these will go into the ballot (if required) as a pair, meaning if one member is successful they both would be.

WILL THERE BE A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CLUB PRESENT AT THE RACES IF I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED FOR A BADGE?

A club representative will usually be present whenever a club horse runs. When we allocate your owners badge, we will send you an itinerary and contact details for the day.

IF I AM ALLOCATED AN OWNER'S BADGE CAN I BRING A GUEST WITH ME?

If you have been allocated an Owner’s Badge this only allows you entry to the racecourse and it only allows you to use the Owner’s and Trainers facilities and entry to the parade ring. Your guest will have to purchase a general admission ticket and this does not allow access to the Owner’s and Trainers facilities or the parade ring.

However, if our allocation of tickets has not been fully taken up by club members, club members may apply for a guest badge.

CAN I TRANSFER AN ALLOCATED OWNER'S BADGE TO ANOTHER MEMBER OR A THIRD PARTY?

No. Badges may not be transferred to another member or used by a third party, without the express permission of the club manager.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE AT THE RACECOURSE?

Different racecourses vary. Details can be found on the racecourse’s websites.

IF ANY OF OUR CLUB HORSES ARE SOLD, DO I RECEIVE ANY OF THE FUNDS?

No.

WILL I RECEIVE A REFUND IF ANY OF THE HORSES ARE INJURED OR NOT ABLE TO RACE FOR ANY REASON ?

No.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE  CLUB HORSES WHEN THEY ARE RETIRED FROM RACING?

Racehorse welfare is a huge priority for everyone at Craig Lidster Racing. We will make strenuous efforts to ensure that when one of our club horses is retired it is found a loving home.
